i stayed in the hotel fr 4 nights with my boyfriend we are both young and found it a great place to explore the city from and then crash out after. the room was clean and teh maid visited everyday. staff were friendly and accomadating. breakfast was ok little choice but it filled us up for awhile. I would recommend this place for friends my age.

really really enjoyed our stay here, the rooms are basic but clean, air conditioning was necessary as it gets so warm. does get noisy if you are on the front of the hotel but hey when the nightlife only starts at 11pm onwards and your getting in at5am after a lot of cava you sleep like a log. ideally situated for the ramblas, lots of hustle and bustle 24hr city!!we really enjoyed our saty at the comercio the staff wee v.v.v helpful could not comment on the brekkie as we got up to late!!!don't be put of by price this place is defo cheap and chic.we love barcelona!!(5 girls had the best holiday ever!!)

Cheap hotel in a excellent location. The room was simple but very clean, breakfasts simple but more than enough. Will stay again when we return.

31.03.2004 Richard (Amsterdam Netherlands)
Spent three nights in Comercio - initial night quite noisy (not so nice in case you plan to participate in a running event - however, next morning we got very nicely transfered in a much quieter room, and overall stay very enjoyable. Geographic location just perfect!

31.03.2004 Hans (Netherlands)
Nice Hotel to stay,Verry clean, Verry simple breakfast this could be a litle bit better if they had a litle more than just "jam" to put on your bread.

25.03.2004 Paul (Manchester, UK)
In a word, Crap. With a capital C. Good location yes. But that's it. Room's extremely small. Not particularly cheap either. Kind of hotel that attracts too many yobs, english school trips, that kind of thing. If u want to relax: stay away. For one or two nights maybe, but the soundproofing is awful. Listen to all of the other drunken guests as they come in throughout the night! Great! Air con didn't work, TV in room but only CNN for int. guests. Didn't bother with breakfast. Staff purely interested in your money. Expect a prompt phone call the day u r due to check-out at 9am to remind u that u have to be out by 11! Bottom Line? There's better value to be had than this.

28.02.2004 John (Notttingham)
Truly horrible hotel. Noisy, filthy and drug dealers outside the front door. Avoid.

27.01.2004 Paul (Norwich)
Great place to stay. This is a cheap hotel in a fabulous location. Noise wasn't a problem for us and it's the guests fault, not the Hotels if you're kept awake. The room we had was small but was very clean, staff friendly, breakfasts basic but filling. This isn't luxury but then again it's great value. Will stay again when we return.

09.01.2004 Shazza (Bristol UK)
Location is everything as they say and this certinly is close to the Ramblas, just off it. We had a pretty tiny room but it did - clean comfortable, although they weren't joking about the thin walls! Breakfast very basic, jam that had to be poured and coffeee that could take the skin off your mouth but nice yogurt. One of the reception porters bears striking resemblance to a hobbit - sweet.

29.12.2003 skywalker (luxembourg)
Nice Hotel and clean but the beds are horrible and the price of a room is different(higher)if you book it via net. gracias

19.12.2003 kirstie (bardford)
the hotel is clean but the rooms are small we had 4 beds pushed into a double room!! the hotel staff are rude. they are very aggressive and strict and chase people down corridord if more than 4 people get in the lift. the maids dont only clean your room for you, but take the liberty of going through your things and helping themselves to things, in my case my new black top! the man outside the hotel is always on hand to sell you some "hash" and reminds you of that everytime you go outside the door. crap hotel, rude staff, crap breakfast and small, smelly rooms

18.12.2003 Helen (Kenilworth)
Pretty reasonable location especially if you like exploring on foot, good value. Good food in square next door,Place Reial. Staff could cheer up a bit. Basic rooms, clean, secure & basic accomodation. Not bothered by street noise (others have commented) but paper thin walls & the noisy brummies next door were a bit of a hassle.

29.11.2003 Paul (UK)
What a disappointment. The staff just grunted, the room was very small with one window which looked out onto a shaft between the hotel, the coffee at breakfast time was horrible and the noise at night from guests coming in was horrendous. The only good thing about this hotel is its location.

20.11.2003 Big Calder (Glasgow)
This hotel would be ideal for our needs, see you in January

17.11.2003 Chris (Italy)
We chose this Hotel because of it's reviews on this web site, they are all true!Position of the Hotel is excellent, 2 mins walk from Plaza Reial and 10-15 mins walk from the Plaza Catalunya (where the bus from the airport drops you off), taking the Las Ramblas street. We asked for a quiet interior room with a double bed and we got it, slept all night, no noise at all. Rooms clean and very simple, buffet breakfast basic and good, staff friendly, good value basic Hotel. Take advantage of the Turistic Bus to see all the sights stress free, well organized. Beautiful city, we will be back!! Ciao e grazie..

14.11.2003 Matt (Birmingham, UK)
Great location and clean rooms however don't expect any peace and quiet. The walls are paper thin and with people coming and going at all hours you'll need some earplugs. This didn't bother us too much but what did spoil the holiday on the last night was the theft of some things from our room (amongst others). The night staff are very lax about who comes and goes and the company they keep is less than salubrious. Added to that no force was used and we since found out that staff were handing out master keys to "guests" who were sharing rooms with other people who they just happened to be without when they came back during the day.

16.10.2003 nicola (leeds)
it was so brilliant the room are nice and relaxing the staff are very welcoming. the breakfast is fantastic. location is perfect! the front view of hotel is bad but luxury is inside. the waiters are only to happy to stay with you over night in your room!

12.10.2003 Karen & Mark (Norfolk, England)
Great choice of hotel, would definitely recommend it, basic but clean, breakfast was contintal style and plentiful. Location was fantastic, just off the Ramblas, taxi driver had not heard of hotel or street though so make sure you know where you are going!

22.09.2003 Debbie (Italy)
The location really was fantastic and it is fairly close to the metro station. I didn't find the noise too much of a problem even on friday and saturday nights. HOWEVER, I stayed here on two separate nights and the rooms varied a great deal: the first time i ended up in a triple room which had a fair amount of space, a desk and two large windows with mini-balconettes looking out onto the street below. Nice. The second time I had a pokey double room where there was barely enough room to walk around the side of the bed, let alone have any extra furniture. Also, the one small window looked out onto a shaft between the buildings that served as the fire escape. Not so nice. So it seems to be pot luck really. But if you just want a place to crash, the facilities, staff and breakfast are all not bad for the price.

Clean, Friendly. centrally located hotel, walking distance to all the entertainment off the La Ramblas. Air Conditioning was a godsend.

05.08.2003 Stephen Curwen (Birmingham, UK)
Hotel Comercio suited our needs well. It was clean and the staff helpful. There was some noise at night from outside. Our room had a TV and the shower was excellent. We made use of the safety deposit box where a small daily fee was requested. The hotel is excellently located. The breakfast was simple but you could have as much as you wanted and was served till 10am. As a budget hotel I would recommend it.

29.07.2003 Ippu (Finland)
We did get what we expected: bed and breakfast at cheap price. Beds weren't so nice, sound-proofing was inadequate and the breakfast wasn't very good although you can eat as much as you want. Service at the reception was good. The room itself was adequately clean and so was the bathroom, too. The location is good, just near the Ramblas. We used ear plugs most nights because the noise is very loud and sound-proof is bad. Air conditioning machine was on/off type. There were safety deposit boxes at reception, which was very positive. If you are looking for a budget class hotel, you'll find Hotel Comercio satisfying if you remember to take your ear plugs with you. Don't expect to get anything more than a very simple and quite clean room.

28.06.2003 Michael (Halifax, England)
The hotel was better than expected, the air con essential. It could be noisy at night with guests coming home in the small hours but earplugs solved that problem. It was clean and very handy for the life on La Rambla, near the Metro. Luxurius it ain't! but it never said it would be. I would have no qualms about a return visit

24.06.2003 Suzanne (London)
Good, cheap and clean hotel-I would definitely use it again as it's very centrally located. Best to take a good map/ guide book with you - even the Barcelonan's hadn't heard of the street!

16.06.2003 Camille (Canada)
Smelly. Noisy. The staff are rude. Bleah.

24.04.2003 Alicia Franyuti (Mexico)
The hotel was clean but the service was horrible, I do not recomend this place, the staff was very rude to us and treated us very bad.

07.01.2003 Ciara MsHugh (Ireland)
Our hotel stay was fine. The only bad points were that it was initally quiet hard to fine the street the hotel was on and breakfast was only provided for groups. We were under the impression was that breakfast was being provided for us.

04.12.2002 kari lancaster (Preston England)
Hotel is on the road behind where La Rambles is although noise is still very audiable! This isn`t a problem however if you return to the hotel (as i did)with a skin full!! The hotel is basic and the rooms very small - but what can u expect at this price??? Other than that Barcelona is a great city and well worth a visit! The zoo is absolute treat - every type of animal available!!

20.11.2002 Silvia (Chicago, Illinois (USA))
Great location, very basic room, but clean. We didn't spend much time there other than to sleep. We had an interior room because I requested a quite room, but next time I'd rather deal with the noise then a room with no view.

11.09.2002 Michael (New york)
Cheap, CHEAP, CHEAP. For soap you have to ask at the front desk. Shower curtain is so old and dirty. Towels are terrible (grey from long use and washing). Very disappointed..... Breakfast is the cheapest in Spain.

11.09.2002 Inna (New york)
I was VERY disappointed with this Hotel.

11.09.2002 Dave & Brig (Nottingham, UK)
Really in the middle of things, this one!!

11.09.2002 Dave & Brig (Nottingham UK)
Basic but clean.Straight off `La Ramblas`An ideal base for seeing Barcelona at an affordable price.Location looks a bit dodgy but never had any problems other than the noise from the street. So either stay up late, or pack your ear plugs

13.08.2002 Elizabeth (Boston, MA)
Clean, but VERY noisy. We had several extremely drunk people smoking directly outside of our room, in the hall, at 4 am.

28.07.2002 A Norwegian family of three (Noruega)
Most satisfying for our needs. We was on the 3rd floor looking down on the entrance of the restaurant, which saved the evening for us, as the surroundings was more than 'exciting'- especially when the darkness settled.

15.07.2002 Henkka (Finland)
Best location on whole city ! Nice staff. Noisy nights if you stay at pedestrian side. Famous restaurant "La Fonda" just other side street and allways full. Near Placa Reial (50 m) what was allways buzzing. Wery close a bank, liquor store and tobacco shop. Just 30 meteres to Ramblas. Clean and small rooms, good breakfast. If you need handy homebase at barcelona this is it.

26.06.2002 Ian Pearson (Scotland)
Hotel very clean. Breakfast often stale. Air-conditioning didn't work. Staff particularly poor and unhelpful. No remote for tv - very loud. Would not stay again.

18.06.2002 Christy (North Carolina, USA)
The hotel was decent, but if you get a room with a window overlooking the alley below, it is very noisy. I couldn't sleep at all with loud, drunk people up all night in the streets. An interior room would probably be fine.

05.06.2002 Caroline (London)
Fantastic location - could not have been better situated for the Ramblas and surrounding areas. Bare necessities provided, but at a great price and clean absolutely no complaints whatsoever.

04.06.2002 Nev (London)
Great location and friendly reception service. Room was basic as was breakfast but ideal if you are looking for a base to explore the interesting and beautiful city. 2 tips-visit Girona 1.5hrs by train from Barcelona and don't do Barca's cable car, its chaotic and a time-waster.

27.05.2002 Nerissa Prasad (New Zealand)
Service was great in the hotel, staff were very helpful. Good location. Good size room and value for money, within walking distance to shops, bars and beach, what more can you ask for. Just hold on to your wallets when in Spain. I didn't have any trouble but be aware. Otherwise really I had an awesome time and was still day dreaming about it all weeks after getting back to London. Enjoy

15.05.2002 Bob "Rupert" Doering (Chicago, Illinois USA)
Rooms were clean and the bathrooms were immaculate. Good to stay if you are on a budget. Walter at the front desk is great. The others were clueless about the city and not too willing to assist. Don't depend on them for info about Barcelona or Spain.

24.03.2002 Martha (UK)
Thanks so much for helping us with this hotel! We loved all of it!!!
