Hotel Description

Cortes is a modern and functional very centrally located Hotel on a pedestrian side street off Las Ramblas and just a 5-minute walk from the Gothic quarter and Cathedral. The Cortes was originally built around 1910 and, like many of its competitors in Barcelona, was thoroughly renovated in time for the 1992 Olympics. Guest rooms are over five floors, and about half overlook a quiet central courtyard (the other half open onto the street). The hotel's ground floor contains a simple, unpretentious restaurant and bar, where breakfast is served and where you can enjoy a beer throughout the day and night. Bright neat reception has small simply furnished TV lounge. Typical local-style bar. Functional breakfast room. Pleasant long narrow restaurant. Air-conditioned bedrooms are pleasantlyš decorated with TV, radio, direct-dial phones. A good value for money hotel with an inviting atmosphere.

Clean and comfortable hotel. Close to the Ramblas and most other interesting places. Breakfast could have been a little bit more than just one croissant: no fruit juice, even no second cup of coffee.

The hotel was very clean and most of the staff were friendly. The room itself was small and we had problems with the hot water to start with. The surroundings were a bit noisy at night and early mornings but i suppose you have to get used to the spanish way of life and start having siestas!

This was our first experience in making reservations on the web. We were pleasantly surprised. Only one block off La Rambla. Clean, quite and a good nights sleep.

When we arrived from airport to Placa de Catalunia 6th of July, it was so hot, that it was nice suprise to see that hotel was just around the corner. Our room was simple, clean and quiet, but best thing was the location. I could not think any better location for hotel. Everything was there when you came out of the door. Next time I come to Barcelona I'll take the same hotel.

Spacious quiet rooms, ours had a nice view. Very centrally located, extremely convenient for the Airbus, yet tucked away. Good value. The breakfast is nothing to write home about - you would be better off at any bar - and some of the staff can be a bit moody.

We stayed for three nights at the Hotel Cortes in the carrer de Santa Anna. The location is very good, next to Las Ramblas and adjacent to the old quarter and being in a pedestrian side street it was nice and quiet. Below our bedroom at the back of the hotel was a public square open to pedestrian traffic with quite a bit of drug trafficking taking place, but this did not affect us. Our only criticism was that the quality of water was very poor. We drank Barcelona water in other localities and can only conclude that there is contamination of the hotel’s water supply on site or nearby. Our room was clean and neat though simple and the bed and bedding were up to standard. The security latch on the window did not work, but this was OK as we were on the third floor. Breakfast was a bit of a “cafÊ de move-on” hot seat variety and the food pretty minimal (one croissant and one cup of coffee). We figured later on in our holiday that that is the standard amount of food offered by all economy hotels in Spain and relative to all the others it was acceptable. Service in the breakfast room was provided by two very overworked waitrons. I would stay at this hotel again.

A basic hotel, but very clean and in a brilliant position - so convenient for everything. Good sized room with a nice big bathroom and loads of hot water. Breakfast was not very exciting, but lots of other places just a short walk away if you want something more substantial. Great choice for a budget break - we would happily recommend the Hotel Cortes.

It's a wonderful hotel, in the center, very calm, my room was little but lovely. The only problem I think, it's the breakfeast, always the same, not sufficient, you can't take a second coffy and the only one is so little........

This place is very centrally located, yet quit due to the new windows that keep out all potential noise, even at the 1st floor. The rooms are small and nothing fancy, but everything is nice and clean, looking quite new and pleasantly coloured. You do get breakfast, but it's the usual Spanish (i.e. rather skimpy) affair. Staff was competent and helpful, though.
