We also liked the position of the hotel because it meant that we were fairly central to all areas of the city. We had a great time and the weather was good in january too! |

The only available room with a double bed was actually a single room on the hotel floor plan. The twin room we were allocated was OK, if small, and the facilities OK. Breakfast was also OK. In all, the hotel did not deserve its 4 star rating and was grossly overpriced for what was on offer. I would not book it again. |

| 24.06.2003 AJMcG (Scotland) I asked for a no smoking room and was concerned when I saw an ashtray in the room. However I needn't have worried as there was no smell of smoke. The room was excellent with a whirlpool bath as an added bonus. The hotel was top class and quiet, with excellent breakfasts, and, being in a very central location, it gave us everything we wanted during our week in June. |

We reported a fault in the Jacuzzi, it was fixed the same day.
We would certainly reccommend it to others.

| 01.05.2003 Luis (England) The hotel is in an excellent location - about 5 minutes walk from Las Ramblas. The hotel staff were very helpful and the hotel very clean. We asked for a smoking room, but got a non smoking one (although it did have a spa bath!! We would echo previous comments - the walls are paper thin and we could hear everything either side, above and below us! However, this did not spoil our stay at the hotel, which was very good value for money through Sasha. Breakfast was huge - too much choice! |

The Hotel is realy good located, quiet, the staff anglishspeaking and kindly. I recommend you to book a hotel in the same city district. However I think the hotel is a little bit owerpriced, - I think the room should be better to do every day. Some days the trashcan was not to empty, and so. |

| 06.04.2003 Fiona E (Dublin) Quite surprised looking back at other reviews now. The Cristal Hotel we experienced was nothing like this! The room was quite small, but clean and had a nice (small) bathroom with no whirlpool bath!! Our window looked out onto some flat roofs and the air conditioning apparatus with all of its accompanying noise. Although we requested a non-smoking room, our room smelt of smoke and contained an ashtray that had not been cleaned out. The staff we encountered seemed abrupt, but maybe the language barrier didn't help. We were next to a suite which had conferences in it every day, and it was noisy from about 6am. The safe in the room had a daily cost, the 24hr room service couldn't send me up a cheese sandwich at 10pm and the espresso pods weren't renewed when we used them the first night! The breakfast was good, as was the location, but all in all not a 4 star hotel in my opinion. |

We got a no-smoking floor, as requested. Only downside - we could hear everything said (and done) next door - walls paper thin. All in all we'd recommend to our friends. Must come back soon. |

The rooms were very well equipped and we even had a spa bath! We also had a large balcony which was lovely as the weather was superb. The breakfast buffet was a good as any we have had. I have already recommended the Cristal hotel to several friends and would recommend Barcelona to everyone as great place for a short break. |

Rooms very spacious,great marble bathrooms with two sinks, whirlpool bath, and bathrobes. Our room also had a nice roof terrace. Breakfast buffet immense, another nice touch was the little espresso pods in the room and the machine in the lift lobby - we started every morning with a coffee on our terrace.
In summary a great hotel in a good location. We would recommend it to friends and would definitely stay there if we go to Barcelona again. |

The rooms do not have carpeting -- great marble floors -- and therefore we could hear everything around us. The walls were also not terribly thick and we were inundated with cigarette smoke from the rooms below and next door! There, as in many European cities, were no non-smoking floors in the hotel. Now, all that said, the hotel staff was helpful and as I said above, the location was great... |
